Until the Camp Ripley/Veterans Trail is completed (2015+), there are several existing road routes that are recommended for bicycle travel between the Paul Bunyan and Soo Line trails.
When using any maps of the area, be sure you can identify which roads are paved, as the majority of roads in this region are unpaved. Local snowmobile maps are perhaps the best resource for differentiating paved/gravel roads and can be obtained from the local chambers of commerce. The Brainerd Lakes Tourism website or Visitor Center (on Hwy 371) is a good place to get these local maps. The Little Falls Visitor Center also has maps, but you will want to specifically ask for snowmobile maps.
While all roads in Minnesota, except those specifically restricted, are open to bicycle travel. Not all roads are comfortable for cyclists of all abilities, especially younger or inexperienced riders.
A quick map of a few suggested connecting routes has been drafted and uploaded for your reference. The map will be revised/improved in the fall/winter of 2010 to show more detail and service information.

CRV Trail Map - 2010.07.23
The Camp Ripley/Veterans trail map and information document has been updated and is available for download:
Camp Ripley/Veterans Trail Map - 20100723.pdf
The map has been cleaned up to make it more presentable with the addition of lakes/rivers and few other minor changes. The exact corridor of the trail is still to be determined, but it has been corrected to match the legislative authorization.
An important note that has been added to this version, is that the CRV Trail will be dual tread-way to accommodate both motorized and non-motorized use.
The total mileage of the trail system that will be created with this trail has also been updated (421 paved miles).

Minnesota Business Magazine has published an article, 'Inside Minnesota's Booming Bike Economy', in their August 2010 edition reviewing the impact of cycling businesses to Minnesota's economy.
Their localized review does a fine job of accounting for the various components of the $315 million/year cycling manufacturing and sales industry, which is on par with Minnesota's forestry, fishing and related activities.
The article focuses on the Twin Cities, which is only only 90-miles away and will be a key source of day trippers and weekend vacationers to the Camp Ripley/Veterans Trail.

A reminder that there will not be an August 2010 Camp Ripley/Veterans Trail meeting.
The next regular meeting will be Thursday, September 9, 2010 starting at 17:30. Meeting location and directions.
The group decided in late spring that we would skip the June and August meetings in order to allow members to reduce the number of trail meetings they are attending during the summer.
Regular meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 17:30 at the Camp Ripley National Guard base.

A corridor map (127.51 Kb) has been drafted to depict the general route of the trail, which was authorized by the MN legislature in the 2010 bonding bill. Other connecting trails are also shown.
With the exception of existing trails, all corridors are general representations. Actual trail alignment still needs to be studied and determined.
This map will be updated as better information is made available.
